Teach ESL – Work from Home

Today was another nice day to work from home. I love being able to look out my window as I am working.

For the last 4 weeks, I have started to teach ESL online from home. It’s been an amazing experience so far and I can’t wait to write my blog posts on it. I have been holding my review as I am still waiting for pay day (to make sure they pay :P).

Till then, don’t forget to follow me on Instagram and on Twitter so you don’t miss out on my review!

Never disappointed at Black’s BBQ

Every once in a while, Mr K and I would crave BBQ. Our solution has always been to make a drive out to Lockhart to have Black’s BBQ and we were never disappointed.

Just yesterday, we spontaneously made a trip there after Mr K came home from work. It was only around 6pm, but they were out of chicken and turkey. We didn’t mind it because our top choices are their beef briskets, pork baby back ribs and Jalepeño cheese sausages.

As if the meats aren’t already to die for, I love their wide range of sides, which included coleslaw (standard & chipotle), potato salad, mexican rice, beans, mac & cheese, and so on. Each serving is only $1.99. You know what, we mix more than 2 types of sides and as long as it fits only your plate, it’s counted as two servings! Totally worth it!

Belly satisfaction every time we drive out here! #blacksbbq #texasbbq #lockhart #sogood

Check out Black’s BBQ on Yelp! They can totally count on us coming back regularly! 🙂

Crowdtap Review: fastest way to receive a giftcard

As I am (f)unemployed till August, I have been consistently looking for legitimate online gigs that would reward me with money, gift cards or free samples. Here is my experience with Crowdtap, thus far.

I chanced upon Crowdtap via a Reddit post and decided to give it a try. My first impression of the site was that it was clean and easy to navigate. I accessed Crowdtap from my laptop, but it felt like I was using an app on my phone.

It did take me a while to figure out what Crowdtap really was. Crowdtap is a word-of-mouth marketing (WOMW) website that rewards users for creating and sharing content about products, and even sample new products and share your feedback.

Things to note when you first join:

  1. The circle you see on the top right hand corner is the PrizeWheel. You earn points for every mission you complete, and once you reach the targeted point, you are rewarded. For the first 2 rounds, I had to reach 500 points for each $5 Amazon Giftcard, but after, it was increased to 1000 points.
  2. Before you start, you will be asked a bunch of questions and be recommended to follow brands that you like. As you can see above, I followed 27 brands under ‘My Brands’. These are the brands that will pop out on your homepage, you will still be able to complete tasks by other brands you don’t follow.

When you reach 500 points, this is the email you will receive. Following that, you will receive another email on how to redeem your Amazon giftcard.

Crowdtap’s missions come in the form of a:

  • Poll: short and easy questions usually worth 2 points
  • Questionnaire: usually a series of poll questions
  • Text mission: You are usually given a idea or topic and asked to feedback on it
  • Content mission: There would usually be an external link to a content for you look at, then provide your feedback on it.
  • Discussion: According to Crowdtap, it is a panel of interactive questions where you have conversations on, but I have not personally seen any discussion tasks yet.
  • Sample: This is where you can apply to samples to be sent to you. You would usually need to complete an onboarding task and your application needs to be approved before you are shipped the sample. You will be asked to complete several review tasks after you receive the sample.

  • For starters, it is a very quick way to receive Amazon giftcards. I spent a few hours to reach the first two rounds of 500 points.
  • The website is simple and easy to navigate.
  • The missions are mostly simple too – they involve answering polls and drafting responses to prompts.
  • Unlike other survey websites, Crowdtap allows multiple members from the same household to join – I am thinking of getting Mr K to join too.
  • One of the best things about Crowdtap is that you can apply for samples to be shipped to you. I have two samples on the way, don’t forget to subcribe to my blog to read how you can receive samples too!

  • After the first 2 rounds, you will have to reach 1000 points, instead of 500 points to receive your reward.
  • Over time, it gets harder to accumulate points. It takes time for new missions to pop out, so you won’t be able to continue earning points in one sitting.
  • Some missions will require you to post photos of yourself. If you are uncomfortable with sharing your private life, these missions will not be suitable for you.

Mrs K’s tips:

  • You will need to connect Crowdtap to your Facebook account to receive the giftcard.
  • There is no need to check in everyday as it takes time for new missions to pop up. I usually check in once every few days.
  • Other than polls which are really quick and easy to complete, I tend to avoid missions (especially, questionnaires) that are worth only 2 points. They take up too much time and aren’t worth the points.

Overall, Crowdtap is obviously not something you can get a lot out of, but it is a good website to spend some free time on every once in a while and get rewarded for it. Even better, you can score quite a few free samples to try out at home!

In the next few posts, I will be sharing other websites I found to be legitimate and indeed gained something from. Don’t forget to subscribe to my mailing list, or follow me on Instagram or Twitter so you don’t miss out!

First blog post – Hello!

Hello, I’m Mrs K.

I am starting my newly married life in the US with Mr K, and I was thinking, why not write it all down?

I would say Mr K and I are a pretty ordinary couple. We both grew up in different places, met at college, had a long distance relationship lasting 5.5 years and we are settled down in Austin, Texas (for now).

We are a thrifty couple – we like to save money as much as we can. At the same time, we love traveling and exploring new food places. While ‘starting a new life’, it seems like we are constantly adding things to our infantry of day-to-day products, so again, why not share our opinions on them?
